See. Judge. Act

For Americans who have always enjoyed freedom, it’s hard to imagine it could be gone. Yet, we see Communism once again attracting masses of people, even here as it is overseas. Corporate and government elites have “sold” communism without naming it. They use division, fear, and suppression. It’s worked. People ‘go along to get along’, but there’s a cost. Many are getting used to being ruled. But what about those of us those who love our freedoms? We the People--the non-compliant--may face trials more severe than we probably know.... But we have concrete hope in the story of someone who watched miracles happen in Communist Czechoslovakia! Father Kolakovic, an anti-fascist priest in 1943, prepared his community for the spiritual trails awaiting them. Whether you have a faith in God, or not, you will be strengthened by his advice: “See. Judge. Act.” ....

From the book, “Live Not By Lies” by Rod Dreher: “The refugee priest taught the young Slovak believers that every person must be accountable to God for his actions. Freedom is responsibility, he stressed; it is a means to live within the truth. The motto became...: ‘See. Judge. Act.’ See meant to be awake to realities around you. Judge was a command to discern soberly the meaning of those realities in light of what you know to be true, especially from the teachings of the Christian faith. After you reach a conclusion, then you are to act to resist evil.”

The underground church, led by this visionary cleric, became the central anti-communist dissent for the next 40 years. It was they who organized a mass 1988 public demonstration demanding religious liberty. The Candle Demonstration was the first major protest against the state. It kicked off the Velvet Revolution, which brought down the communist regime a year later. All of this happened because one man saw what was coming and prepared his people.

Let’s band together—all who love freedom—and See. Judge. Act. We too, know the power of Action!
