2025 Resolutions: One Thing to Add - One Thing to Purge

I’m guessing these last few weeks, like lots of us, you’ve been thinking about the year ahead: “What do I need to get rid of? What do I want to add to my life? For me, I’ve really got to just PURGE that excess stuff (like those fabulous shoes I haven’t worn in five years--and a few stubborn inches around my waist)! And I want to ADD some habits—like reading more and starting better time-management.

This is one of my favorite times of year because I still have hope that I REALLY CAN change some habits. But most of us lose that hope by about February 10 or so, because we failed to make our resolutions clear, achievable, and measurable. But the most important is defining your WHY: “So I’ll be healthier, less stressed, happier family, better relationships.…” (You need to be more specific, but those are general ideas.) Changing habits is hard, but having a specific reason is key to your success.

You and I have lots of important WHY’s, but may I suggest one WHY that will make a huge difference to support all of them? What happens inside our bodies and minds, our homes, and our businesses are all affected by what happens in our community—our schools, churches, government and relationships. When we have THRIVING COMMUNITIES, the rest of life is healthier, more prosperous and way more fun!... But how?

Thriving communities depend on people in those spheres who communicate with us, who listen and act with integrity. But that won’t happen if we don’t ADD in the habit of regular engagement with those in government, schools, our churches, as well as our work and personal relationships. We have to speak up and show up.

That’s always the goal/resolution of Arizona Women of Action—to make it SIMPLE for you to get the information on what’s happening, the inspiration that you CAN make a difference, and the connections with others so we multiply the impact and fun! And you’ll become more confident to engage effectively. We make it SIMPLE for you to fit civic engagement into YOUR schedule—whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours a week. You’ll get everything you need to plug in when you subscribe--and of course you have to read and take the recommended actions-- in our Call to Action Update. Please also share it with a friend!

So, I’m asking you to ADD One Habit: Each week 15-30 minutes of simple, effective action.

And what to PURGE?... Get rid of frustration and discouragement about what’s wrong, and the feeling you can’t do anything about it. YOU CAN! And you’ll feel great when you DO YOUR PART—as we all make a big difference in helping our communities to THRIVE in 2025!
