Salute to the Power of an IDEA!

Take a few minutes to read to your friends & family this story by Scott Powell, Ph.D.: July 4, 1776 and 2022: The Declaration Still Empowers Good to Triumph
“Most Americans celebrating the July 4th holiday today don’t fully realize that it was the power of ideas in the Declaration Independence that was the critical enabling factor for the Americans to win the War of Independence.
Compared to the British professional military, the American colonial army was simply no match — being undermanned, underfunded, under-equipped, inexperienced, and under-trained. At the outset of the war, the British Royal Navy had 270 warships deployed in American waters, while the Continental Navy had seven ships.”
Wait-- the British had 270 warships? And we had only 7 ships?!!
What possible power did we have to defeat that enemy? — The Power of Ideas. Literally.... Ideas that derive their power from the Providence (God) who instilled them in the hearts of man: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
When Gen. George Washington received a copy of the Declaration of Independence, he was so moved and encouraged by these IDEAS that he ordered copies to be sent to all his other generals.
Do you need encouragement this July 4 to keep fighting for our United States of America? Read the Declaration of Independence for yourself. Just the Preamble alone will energize your soul:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
Some reminders this July 4, 2022:
No other country was founded on the IDEA that every person has Value--value that can’t be given or taken by government. The Value IS the People—not money or power or status.
The true strength of America is an Idea—not a political party or politician.
From the Preamble: “Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” — Therefore, we must correct any ‘destructive government’ and institute new government that will ‘effect the citizens’ safety and happiness’.
Questions for Americans angry at America:
Where did you get your right to speak up against a government decision?
Where do you get your right to own property, or to practice the religion of your choice...?
Why was the evil institution of slavery (once practiced in every country in the world) defeated here by thousands of white (and also black) soldiers who gave their lives because they believed the IDEA that “all men are created equal”?
For women, which Constitution’s IDEA gave you the right to vote, or hold equal value in the workplace?
Can you name one country that is more inclusive, empowering and gives you more opportunity?
